I bit the bullet and upgraded about a week ago and have found no problems, in some other threads others were saying presentation mode in Layout will crash it so I have stayed away from that (I don't use that feature anyway).

I have found that orbiting the model seems to be a lot smoother also you can use the native OS X full screen mode.

I run it on a MBP 15" early 2011 machine for work.

If SketchUp 2016 has support for Metal on the new OS that would be awesome.

I've been running SU Pro 2015 on El Capitan for a couple of months on a mid-2012 MBPr. I've had no problems with SketchUp itself. I very seldom use Layout, so I can't speak personally about it, but I've seen some reports of a few issues there.

For some time now, Trimble has devoted relatively little of its developer resources to Mac. Many issues, complaints, and seemingly arbitrary differences from Windows have sat unaddressed for a long time. Until/unless that changes, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for support of Metal, as that would likely require substantial branching between the core graphics code on Windows and Mac. SketchUp long ago chose OpenGL for its portability.

I'm about to (finally) upgrade from Mavericks to El Capitan — should I have any concerns with SU Pro 2015 compatibility, or have the earlier reported gremlins (on the SU.com forum) been squashed?

Also have a 3DX Space Navigator and had seen driver problems reported (or were those only with 2016?). Anybody with this setup that can report their experience?

              Thanks,

              Doug

Can't speak for the particular issues you reference. I now have El Capitan. I have mostly been running 2016 but no particular problem noticed in either version.

Thanks for the reply. I pulled the plug and upgraded last night. Haven't tried SU yet, but happy to hear that you've not experienced any issues.

I had no issues with El Capitan and SU Pro 2016 however the OS wouldn't recognise my Brother Wireless Printer nor my Epson 4490 PhotoSmart Scanner. There were no available drivers that were compliant, so reverted back to Yosemite.
