So what gives.. how do I scale an object??
-
I'm trying to scale an object. I select it and click Scale (S).
I see the green anchors and go ahead and resize it to the new size.
Now what???
When I release the mouse button it reverts back to it's original size.
Coming from other 3D tools like 3DSMax, Blender and Lightwave I have to say so far Sketchup is the LEAST intuitive UI I've ever used.. (I mean triple clicking!!!)
Can anyone please help!

So you click and drag a green scale handle and when you release it, the component returns to its original size? It sounds to me as if you are trying to scale a Dynamic Component which has some or all scale parameters locked. Perhaps you could share the component?

Scaling should also work... unless the component you are trying to Scale is a DC with scaling options somehow locked - perhaps with a dimension fixed in the axis you are trying to Scale.

Select object[s] > Scale...
Click the green handle you want to move, and keeping the left mouse button pressed, drag in the direction required and then release the mouse to complete the scaling.
After the scaling, if you immediately type in a new numerical value + <enter-press>, then the scaling in that direction is adjusted to exactly that value, rather than the picked size from the mouse-click.Tips:
Typing in a value scales it by that 'as a ratio', so typing 2 doubles the current size of the object in that scaling direction, or using 0.5 halves it; but if you add a units suffix to the typed in value [no space], it is then taken as an actual dimension - so if you are scaling in its length and type in 2m +<enter> it makes it two meters long [irrespective of its current size], rather than twice as long as it was... Note: if you are scaling from a 'corner' you type in multiple dimension values inside [ ], thus [1.1m, 2m, 15.1cm] which set the three x,y,z values - Note: if you use a ',' instead of a '.' as your decimal-point, then you will need to separate the x,y,z values with a ';' [1,1m; 2m; 15,1cm] -
