Object info
-
Fairly new to sketchup and trying to see if there is a way to edit object via dialog box.... Say a rectangle, select the face and change parameters in the object info box. I can edit a line, but that is it
Also, is there a way to move objects with the arrow keys based on a set increment or snap value?Mac OS 10.8 skp pro 2014
Thanks -
You can only draw that parametric shapes if you use Dynamic Components. (The move tool works better though)
There is a plugin that moves objects using the arrow keys. I don't know what it is (because I think the move tool is better)
You can always snap movement (and any command) to a length using "window > model info > units > length snapping"

You want to get used to using tools and typing inputs to make them work without clicking in a box first.
For example, if you want to resize a rectangle you can use the scale tool and type a specific size.
Draw a 1m x 2m rectangle, select it and choose the scale tool(hit s), click one handle and start to move it, then without doing anything else, let go of your mouse and type 1.5m,3.7m and hit enter. The rectangle will adjust to that size. This type of thing works with most tools and accepts different inputs depending on what the tool can do.

You can also just change one dimension in scaling. If you have a 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 3' box, you can pull to scale in the 3' direction and write 8', for example, leaving the other dimensions where they were.
