Is there a tool that works like pressing Ctrl + Pushpull and creating a extrusion, without having the internal faces created?

What is the end result you're looking for? Why would you use Ctrl+Push/Pull if you don't want to create the face?

I want to construct the edges like when doing ctrl+Pushpull but without the interior faces. (here marked red) This would make it easier to have quad faced models.

Ah, I see. When I want edges like that without the faces, I use Move/Copy to copy the edges from an end. That makes it simple to evenly distribute the edges along the length, too.

I'm usually not worried about quad faces but after creating places for folds.

Yes I know of these workaround solutions but I would like to have it as a stand alone tool for better workflow. Running a clean up script might erase things you actually want to be kept also.

Well, then, use Rich's suggestion. It works fine although I think it is a little slower than my method of copying edges. I don't really consider copying the edges a work around.

Yes, but as it is part of a commercial script it won't suit the workflow I'm trying to create for our firm with lots of users. 😐
Buying Artisan for all of them just to get this functionality is not a solution.

I'm thinking maybe it's possible to create such a tool.
Is there a way of testing for internal faces while doing a pushpull in ruby?

Then I think it is best to ask Fredo if his PushPull suite would have such an option.

He just about does on toggle of CTRL except he create the face and loop

But it does it already Rich.

                            • Normal push pull
                            • Erase original faces
                            • Faces on contours

With all the bells and whistles that also come with it...

You had me excited for a minute... I was hoping for a version that doesn't flip the original push face to a backface. When I create walls and such I always get backfaces on the outside of and on top of walls.

You don't have to create that problem for yourself. πŸ˜‰

I don't really see your point Dave. It's not really up/normal that's my problem, but negative push from the front. I pull all my walls up and then push back down for header and door/widow height. I've learned to pull doors and windows up separately to stop this from happening but it increases workflow.

Kris, Push/Pull is doing what it should in those cases. Get rid of the floor inside the walls and it won't give you the reversed faces.

I thought you and I went through this a few years back and had you had it all sorted out.

You're thinking of the wrong face. The top face extruding downwards. it's already a front face and when I extrude it (push/pull) it downwards it flips the top face to a back face.
