If the 'parabola' is not raw geometry [e.g. it's inside a group/component] then you need to explode it and attached the other edges to it.
If all edges are coplanar a face should automatically form when any edge is over-drawn...
You cannot have a 'face' with some of its edges inside another 'context'...
I assume your reference to 'area' means 'face' ? -
Is this the sort of thing you're after?

If not, perhaps you could explain more and even give us a picture of what you want.
