Import pdf into sketchup
-
Oh Sketchup, when will we be able to import pdf's.....Im working on a very large project with lots of text in Autocad...I export it to a pdf then to an image file to be placed in sketchup so I may type over the text instead of going back and forth between sketchup and cad. but when I scale the image to match the imported cad file I can't see jack....

It's already available on the Mac.
Why not put the text in using LayOut?

Geeezes, why didn't I think of that? Thanks a million....you're the best

Well, I still think it would be a great idea to add PDFs in the import file types for SketchUp. I makes sense because unlike jpgs, tiffs and bmps a pdf is not a raster image and can be measured like a dwg or dxf file. The other image files are raster images and no matter what quality they are saved in, they can't be compared to adding a vector image into your project as a background. This also would allow you to import this file type if you only have the Make version of SketchUp. Just a thought.

Have you tried importing the pdf into Inkscape? From Inkscape you can export to dxf and you can import that into Sketchup. Even with multi-page pdfs, Inkscape will let you choose which page to import. Works great.

Not being a Mac person - does it come in as vector or as raster? If it's vector, it may make it worth looking into...
