Splotchy Cabinets
-
Hello,
Any ideas why the cabinets look so splotchy? I cant figure out why they're reflecting so much light. I don't have a reflection layer on that particular material.
Also, the cabinets lack definition partially because the edges (on the doors for instance) are simple lines. It is possible to render the edges of cabinet doors when they are drawn this way.

Hi Todd,
Could you tell us a little more about what rendering engine you're using, and how you have the model/materials set up. Or better yet, post the model if you're ok with it?

Hey Matt-
Thanks for the response! I am using SketchUp Pro with Vray (both licensed). Unfortunately, I am not at liberty to post the model. Any tips in general to render off white painted cabinetry/ millwork without getting the harsh splotches? I want soft looking surfaces with crisp shadows on the millwork details.
Thanks again!

Light leaks could mean low GI and sampler settings settings. Try one of the interior presets for high quality.

Hi Todd,
I thought it might be VRay, damn. I can't really make any recommendations based on that. I used Maxwell (unbiased), so I don't have a very strong grasp on VRay (or other biased engines for that matter) or it's settings. From what I've heard, GI settings can sometimes causes light bleeds and so forth, though I couldn't tell you what to adjust to clear them up!
Sorry!
