Photo import / beginner
-
Using sketchup to build a 3D model of my home plus gardens.Done the house structure and am trying to import a photo texture for my front door onto the face I've selected, but it will not allow me to. Has that wee no can do symbol on the image import. I can place the same image on any other face , but not the one I want.
If I put a block colour in the face it is graduated.
please helppp! -

Did you refer to this article?
http://help.sketchup.com/en/article/167479The article was found by Help>Knowledge Center> type keyword "photo" in search box and after a little wading, find that article.
There are You Tube videos on the subject, also.

Thanks for the response.
Yes I know about this method of importing an image, and this is what I've been doing. This works on all the faces on the file I'm working on , except one particular face.
I suspect it could be that I grouped the the house building and it is the door image that will not apply.Ive tried ungrouping but it still has not worked. -
Apply textured images onto the face itself, not the group/component.
Edit the group to get into its geometry...
Plain materials applied directly onto a 'container' work fine as no UVmapping is needed, but to get good results apply textured materials onto faces, you can then edit the placement etc in the context-menu item 'Texture'...
