When u zoom in and out, u can get easily stuck in to the objects behind you or in front of you. in other 3d programs, u can easily pass thru objects WITHOUT being stuck into the emptiness. Why sketchup is like that? Why I have to zoom in so long to get out of the emptiness of the objects that I accidentally zoom into?

are the developers going to change that?

I had that problem until I got my SpaceMouse Pro. Now it's gone.

To your question; I think it's supposed to be 'smart zoom' that it is supposed to be trying to tell where you want to go and changing the relevant zoom scale accordingly. you'll find that what ever your cursor is on top of is where it will seem to zoom to naturally. if behind on empty space you will zoom past.

I'm not sure there's anything for the developers to fix. The Zoom tool works very well. Zoom speed depends upon how far it is to the face on which the cursor is resting. This works nicely and prevents you from zooming past near objects when you are trying to work on them. I wouldn't want them to make it impossible to place the camera inside components. I use that ability to get inside components all the time.

Being spatially aware of where the camera is in the model is important but that's something you have to learn. Learning to utilize the tools you have available is also important. Have you ever used Previous Camera View? Maybe you should be using layers so you can hide objects that would occlude your view. There's plenty of options available.

If you ever get lost in your model you can use the Camera/Zoom Extents (Shift + Z) command or click on one of your Scene Tabs to quickly zoom out so you can see all of your model.

thanks you all. i haven't tried previous camera view yet. my problem is just it takes tooo long to zoom out of a wall when u accidentally in it. in modo, 3ds max and blender or any other 3d programs it takes very fast to zoom past a wall. i hope someone understand my problem.

Another tool that can help with this problem is the Zoom Previous & Zoom Next command.

A similar problem that annoys me is that when you turn your perspective on or off it changes the zoom extent, which then often leaves you looking at nothing and you have to whirl around trying to find your model. Not a problem exactly but it is annoying.

Apart from Previous, I often use Hide when I bump into something. You need a shortcut key for it tho. I use H, clever huh?
