Eye view problem
-
Hi Folks
I am trying to set up an eye level view.
When I select the camera>position camera tool, then choose the plane my person is standing on, then type 5'6" bc thats the eye height I want, the camera jumps below the plane I choose......any thoughts?

The eye height is the height above the ground plane which is defined by the red and green axes when the origin is at its default location. Note that moving the model axes won't change the location of the ground plane. IIn order to get the eye height to be 5'6 (or 66") above your surface, you need to add the height of the surface above the ground plane and enter that. So if the surface is 30" above the ground plane you would enter 96".

got it, thanks!

Funny, my position camera tool works differently. I click it on a horizontal surface and the cue "on face" comes up and the eye location goes to that place (+5'6" whatever the height offset shows in the VCB). For example I can click on a roof top deck. and have the view from there. the "eye height" is then given the as the height above the ground plane.

That's what I was describing. Or at least trying to.

Oh I see. OP types the height AFTER choosing the plane. Instead If one chooses "position camera", then type height of person's eyes above the surface, THEN click surface you don't need to add in the height above ground plane. That's how I do it.
