SKP format is so slow; I wish...MULTITHREADING

200MB file + ctrl S = nightmare for about 1 minute!
TRIMBLE please do something with this terrible time of saving SKP files and introduce multithreading - all major players have it done but Sketchup.
Sketchup is great but can be fast.

like who? and for what?

Turning off 'Redefine thumbnails on save' reduces saving time to 20-30 seconds which is still huge, compared to a fraction of a second in 3ds max or in zbrush ,or modo.

I could be wrong, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find a 3D modeling program that actively utilizes more than a single core for modeling functions. Most programs that can use Multi-core support like 3DS Max only use them for processes like rendering, that are more processor intensive (and with a few exceptions) aren't done in real-time feedback.
I'm no developer, but splitting something like saving (as you hinted at) across multicore would probably be a stability nightmare.
Feel free to post the model if you'd like, or PM me with it. I'd be happy to take a look and see if I can find a reason behind it being a slow-saving little bugger.

I am not talking about multithreading for saving files.
SKP format files that are above 100-200mb are saved within dozens of seconds - this is the problem.

I used to have 2 to 3 minute loads, saves and autosaves.
Switched to an SSD (Solid State Drive) as and now loads, saves and autosaves of same model are in the order of 3 to 5 seconds.
Also, the PC boots to full go in 1 minute 35 seconds of which 50 seconds is the IPL, and 45 seconds is Windows 7. Usta be about 7 minutes before SSD.
That gave me time to cleanup my desk waiting to get going, now I don't have the time.

Welcome to the conservative party of Sketchup....while almost every company enjoys the new possibilities of nowadays...Sketchup won't.....As a company we are now considering other packages because of this attitude....
