@Al
You have IRender nXt from Render Plus in your signature, why not render your car with it inside SU?I'm working on it. Trying to get a good environment, add a dome light, etc.
Also, I am kind of hoping some other IRender nXt users will find this thread. They are probably much better than I am at rendering cars.

Cheers Carl, i see a little problem with fireflies in the noise i think it's the car paint and the HDR lighting. The discs are pretty simple, i used an iron material set to about 10-15& roughness. This is pretty close to steel. Then i used a circular bump map, in the plugin i made it cubic projection voila.

Oops - this thread has been hijacked.
Would you guys mind continuing the discussion of how to use VRay in a new thread?
Like a real world discussion, the topic can move around a bit but, thats life.

Some cracking renders above

Excellent renders to all. Just a quick question if I may. Are the backgrounds HDR's and are they ones that came with the individual render programs or did they come from outside source. I use Kerkythea because it's just a hobby and the HDR's off the KT site always look blurry and and not as good as the one's I see many using here.
Thanks

When you may not sleep , rendering is one of best choice instead...
You donn't render when you sleep?

Frederik,
With Renditioner, the rendering time is about two minutes.
With Irender nxt, about four minutes.
Of course you have to calculate the time for the setting:
average: ten minutes for both. -

It took about 17 min on my old laptop (the original render is larger), and some times to tweak, I used the material template system. Thanks to Tomasz
