      Hi everybody,

      is it possible to select a single edge and make it invisible (not deleting it)?

        Yes. Get the Eraser tool and hold Shift while clicking on the edge. This will hide it.

          OR... just select it.
          Then activate 'Entity Info' [expanded dialog pane] - which has check-boxes to Hide/Unhide Soften/Unsoften and Smooth/Unsmooth Selected Edges - tick/untick them as desired.
          To make hidden/smoothed edges visible, so you can select them, use View > Hidden Geometry, toggle to ON...
