MAC Vray 1.6 crashes when Sketchup 8 opens
-
Hello everyone.
I have spent the better part of my day trying to find resources, or someone else who has had the same problem as me, but have come up short.
I purchased Vray yesterday, went to download it today.
During the setup process, some components were missing (view screenshot2).
I continued with the installation. Once it was finished and i opened sketchup, i saw the vray toolbar, but when i tried opening a model, sketchup closed and this window popped up (view screenshot4).
Can somebody please tell me what i am doing wrong?
Now that i have Vray in my possession i REALLY want to start using it.
Any help would be immensely appreciated.

So we should use the new Sketchup 2013 when we use install/use on the Mac?

make - SU 2013 should perform well with our 1.6 beta. Also, please be aware that we have dropped support for Tiger and Leopard. I believe we still support Snow Leopard and up, but I know we definitely support Lion and Mountain Lion, and plan on adding support for Mavericks when it is released.

jamesmentzos - What if you start a model from scratch, are you able to render a box or a scene made entirely from scratch? Perhaps it's an upgrade issue of some sort? Either way, please submit a bug report to our bug tracker: http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=322&t=52366&start=30#p474506

I got it to install but it couldn't find the plug-ins folder for Sketchup 2013 so I had to make an alias and put it on my desktop and go that route as the library will not show up through the dialogue box without resorting to the command line.

I have similar behavior with Sketchup now. I crashed out of Sketchup 8 and now the program will not open, period! Opens to a point, then crashes as it is loading the toolbars. I installed Sketchup 2013 and the program at least opens. However, when I try to open my 40MG file the spinning ball appears for a long time and then the program crashes. In general a pretty sorry experience with VRay plugin and getting logged into Chaos forums is just as horrific. I have registered, but can not gain access.

I am wondering if the crashes in VRay 1.6 Beta is related to the other plugins I have loaded? I have Podium, Twilight, and Maxwell all loaded in my Sketchup V8 for OSX and the same minus Maxwell in 2013, also OSX. I have unloaded VRay 1.6 at the moment as I have a client presentation and Sketchup is behaving normally again. I have very limited experience so far with VRay 1.6 due to the crashing issues, but I watched several Tutorials on Lynda.com and the Chaos website and see it has great potential to become my rendering engine of choice. I look forward to some stability in the Beta so I can gain some experience with this program. Gregg

quite possible, our latest nightly build has some changes to resolve some plugin conflicts (we had quite a few), and the next public beta version will have those fixes. If you're interested in trying out a nightly build to see if that resolves your issues, send me a pm please.

I have a similar issue. Tried to install VRay 1.6 on Mac w SU8 - SU crashed on open every time. Uninstalled everything, created a clean install of SU13, no plugins except VRay 1.6. I can create a new model no problem and it works, but when I try to open one of our SU8 models, I get the warning message about saving in SU13 blablabla and then the never ending spinning color wheel. Have to force quit SU and it happens on every model (tried 4 so far - size range from 25-50MB).
