How to make Wrought Iron Balustrade and Gate

Can anyone write or suggest a link on how to model these wrought iron shapes for gates and balustrades in sketch up.
I experimented with Draw metal, I am able to use fairly,when i create the spiral with curve maker and taper maker my model file size increase astronomically,even though I use 12 sides for the cross section it stills ends given my model a big file size and then slows it down.I want to know if the sketch up native tools can do the wrought iron shape or there is an alternative plugin I can use.
I want to able to trace the curve from a photo and model to get my spirals.
