Shadow String Fix doesn't solve the problem.

What spec has your machine? GPU?

Q6600, ATI HD 4850, 4GB, Windows 7 64 bit.

Hardware Acceleration on/off?
Fast Feedback On/off?
ATI cards are notorious for not liking SketchUp

Turn them off and see if this helps
Fast feedback can cause issues
If Hardware acceleration Off fixes it then SketchUp and ATI are not liking one another
Try updating to latest GPU driver to see if it helps if you haven't already

Turning off hardware acceleration and fast feedback has makes no difference.
