Wrapping 2D drawing on a cylinder?

What's cylindrical projection?

UV tools? cylindrical projection? tweak in PS?
yeah.. i was thinking that stuff as well at first..
but he's saying 2D drawing so it's likely he's wanting to wrap sketchup geometry around a cylinder

Seems Shape Bender will be the more easy ?
except shapebender won't work on a closed curved (cylinder).. so there's more work involved then just running shapebender and that's that..
you have to take out some of the circle then calculate that gap and separate it from the flat drawing you're trying to wrap.. then fill in the gap manually..
Thats the way First make just a circle at about 40 segments, cut 1/2 of a segmant out. Use Chris's tool on a jpg anothing (have to explode the pic than re component it). It will bend. Close the Top and bottom. Grab one long side and drag it to the other to close. It fills in both ends so you can do what ever from there

in thomthom UV tools, there is a choice of cylindrical and spherical projection. It works very well for images.
Sorry yeah I thought he meant a PDF/image not actual geometry.

clarification - I am indeed going to be wrapping 2D Sketchup geometry (a tiled hexagon)on to a cylindrical surface which will actually be a vault, no a complete cylinder.
After some research, I came across Fredo's "Tools on Surface" - might that work?

shape bender, it will work just fine.

shapebender...

Would love to see a shapebender that works on a closed loop.

Cut it in two parts.
-
Great - looks like I'll see how shapebender works out. Wasn't sure if it manipulated 2D entities.

it'd be nice but then you run into the error (you know.. that one in that crazy long thread )
the halves won't go back together properly

Of course yes!
And if you make a tiny gap in your curve's circle you don't see it on the result!

Is this plugin compatible with MAC?
-
yes
