Trim surfaces plugin?
-
Hi everyone,
Im working on a project recently, where Im dealing with a lot of non linear surfaces and Im wondering if theres any plugin that trims surfaces(like SU solid tools with surfaces) Ive already searched for it but could not find one.
Thanks for any help

Maybe like this? http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=48329

Thanks, they are both great but they do only planar cuts. I was rather looking for something that works with curved faces. It can be done with intersect faces with selection but than i have to explode it an delete the faces and edges i dont want manually and it is a bit time consuming...

You don't have to explode it. Just open the group or component for editing, make the intersection inside and clean up the waste. If you explode components or groups so you can modify them, you're working too hard.
The alternative to the intersect and clean up is to make the surface you're trying to trim into a solid. Which is more work? Doing that so you can use Solid Tools or just doing the intersection and deleting the waste? That should give you the clue as to the route you need to go.

YEs I try that with solid tools and making into the solid whenever possible, I downloaded that FIX solid tool but sometimes it just cant fix a solid there are too many errors in it. Thanks anyways for the answers

If you have too many errors to fix solids, perhaps there are changes you could make to your modeling methods. Maybe you could avoid some of the problems in the first place. It's hard to tell without seeing what you're trying to do.

My SolidSolver now resolves many errors - but nothing is infallible, if you want to contrive a form that has enough convolution in the errors nothing can fix it but some hard work !
