REQ: Handrail plugin.
-
Hi all plugin Guru`s
I`m looking for a pluign wich can make a handrail by drawing a line, maybe "group" it and then press the "make handrail plugin".
A window opens, and you can pick profiles for different types of rails. Ie. Toprail, kneerail, and kicklist. set distance and mumbers of profiles.posts may be prechosen by a component in the model or maybe loaded, and distance between post`s are set.
If there are any plugins like this please point me in the right direction (cause i dont know where to find it)
Thank you for your time...
(I know of a plugin that is just around the corner, but it has som limitations regarding choosing different types of rails.)

There's a 'balustrade' ruby by Didier Bur on the crai depot site... That will do some of what you want...

you could also consider (depending on the complexity of the railing) use Profile Builder. create a library of railing (balustrades, posts, kick plates etc) shapes and then in your projects create a set of lines and apply the profiles to each set. create each set of lines as groups to make it easier. this would allow a fairly simply workflow and an almost unlimited number of profiles. nothing would stop you from using any of the other rail building scripts so maybe its a combination of them.

yes i know or several options, but was hoping for a suuuper quick way... http://valiarchitects.com/
has a new "wall creator" and within this there is a rail feature.. it is close to what i need but i cant change profiles, height of profiles and numbers of profiles the way i need... Still crossing fingers for a reply on my plugin request -
Yes, Instant wall is one I thought of when I first read this. It does have limitations, but sometimes it gets you the main components and you can adjust them after. The height is changeable and there are various styles. You can make up your own with simple shapes. Good for quickly filling out railing in a larger model, but you might not get the detail you are looking for. I used it pretty easily for stair handrails as well, though it takes some adjustment afterwards, and Chuck says that's not really what it's for. (Maybe he'll get into a dedicated railing plugin).

thnx again for replies..
The reason for this plugin is that i need to visualize a final result and by having a correct handrail i can do a pre MTO (material takeout) based upon the volume of the group times density equals weitgh..
Again i know of several ways to get the result i need but it takes time.. making 100 upon 100 meters of rail in segments of 10-100 meters takes a lot of time..
If it is a complicated script to write i understand it wont be done, but i was hoping that it was an easy script and somone might have the time and interest of writing it..
(please dont tell med to learn script/ruby writing, it is just a question
Again thanks for your time.

Mine (free) http://www.modelfunction.com/ plugin can do this task.
