Hi ThomThom, I thank you for this new tool it appears to be great. I just purchased a copy of it on paypal and was starting to play with the tools to get the feel for it. I have immediately noticed an issue though, and it may be my own fault but even with the Lock UV Mapping enabled when I am adjusting the vertexes up and down the Z axis the UV's are being pretty badly changed. Here is an image of what I am seeing.

This is peculiar - can you send me the model as a sample?

Strangely enough, I started up a new file again and did the same thing, new topo from scratch, then grabbed the vertexes with a falloff and pulled them with the gizmo. This time they were not getting majorly changed like they were last time but I did start getting a weird change in texture directions on one piece which I'll link here.

        Hi everyone,

        Gizmo use questions:

In moving the gizmo is there a way to do a snap move in reference to the gizmo center (as in the regular VT move tool) or is numerical input the only way to fine tune it?

Is there a way to soft rotate points to only one side of the pivot point?

        Thanks, enjoying the tool.

No snapping with the Gizmo - only length snapping according to the Model Info units.
I don't see how it would work, because move works only in the direction of the axis you use - how would you expect it to snap to anything?

? sorry but I cant visualize what you are asking for here. ❓

Do you have the original file - I was hoping to see if I could reproduce it.

Never mind - I could use the file after all. And I see the problem. For some reason it keeps the UV mapping correctly for the front side - but not the back side. I'm investigating.
              Thank you for the report!

This is odd - I exploded the group and found that all the texture re-oriented. There seem to be something about textures and groups/component when they haven't been positioned - just applied. Intriguing! πŸ€“

Bad news - this appear to be a SketchUp bug. Or API limitation. I'd say it's a bug because even SketchUp mess up the UV when you explode the group.

When I read the UVs I get from SketchUp and reapply them immediately the texture change direction (where as you'd expect it to remain the same). What's worse - due to API limitation I cannot work around it because it is impossible for me to know if a texture is simply applied or positioned. (Because positioned textures works fine.)

I'll have to consult with the SketchUp developers on this.

OK I see what this tool is for. It's NOT what I bought SU for... but this is a SU image. I just added some mist in pixlr editor. (Needs more foam, I know)

I jest. I have been using it for all sorts of work.

thomthom, i can't stop to play with this, i'm trying every single tool and stuff and they are all very amazing and intuitive to use.

πŸ’ i noticed only a strange beahaviour i can't quite understand:
if i select a loop with QFT and then enter VT, the selection/gizmo tool is active and the VCB is showing the "Soft Selection Radius" so that one can adjust it, then for example i move the selection+soft selection and the VCB shows the "Distance" so that one can easily adjust the movement itself.

Ok, let's pretend now i want to move the ring in another direction, this time with a different soft selection radius, i click on the selection tool in VT floating toolbar and the VCB shows again "Soft Selection Radius" so one think he can adjust the radius again.. BUT i input the new radius and press enter and the tool just act like the previous "move" (or rotate or wathever the previous operation was) is still active and just continue to move it in the same direction such as "Distance" is still actually active in the VCB, instead of modify the selection radius as desired.

i have to exit the tool, re-select the ring again and then re-open VT and re-enter the radius to make it work again and change the amount of vertice soft-selected.

am i missing someting in the correct soft-radius adjusting or is it a little bug?

Hit ESC after the Move to return to soft selection.

you are right, it works fine if you hit esc and is also faster than click on the toolbar! thank you!

Yea, the ESC thing to get back to selection radius isn't ideal. It's on my list of things to look into for improvement for next round.
