Yeah but I always get 24 to start. Is there a way to make that say 100 as a default?

Nope. You will have to re-set the number of segments each time you run SketchUp.

        OK Thanks

sdmitch....Thanks for the info. Very simple. I spent weeks off and on trying to get that to work.

There was a convoluted fix [PC only] that auto-loaded some code to make a circle using a shortcut-key with a number of segments set etc and then erase it at every startup.
BUT that is a faff... πŸ˜’
It's a thread on the forums somewhere...
I recommend you learn to live with the default and change it as you need to...

Yeah that's probably what I will do. It's just a pain to have to do it for every circle.

You don't have to do it for every circle. Change it once in your modeling session and it'll stay that way until you change it or close SketchUp. On the other hand, do you really have to have that many sides on all your circles?

OK Here,s my next dilemma. I am trying to make a clearance hole in one side of the bearing. It's not working right. What am I doing wrong.

                Dave R....

                1. That doesn't work for me. I still get 24 segments unless I change it in entity info and even ten I have to do it for every circle. Maybe I'm doing it in the wrong place.
                2. Most of the time I don't need as many segments but I am doing some 3D printing and parts like this bearing need smooth surfaces.

By chance has anyone figured this out? I still can't get it to work.

What I'm trying to do is where the cylinder is to make it open so that I can put balls/BB's in there easily.

                        A little trick πŸ˜‰
                        The first time
Click but don't make anything (so you are sure that tool is not yet in race)
Click Don't draw anything but Input in the VCB right down corner screen the number of segment wished
(or directly with the numeric keyboard if you have it) πŸ’

                        • said 13 + ENTER πŸ€“ (Enter is the key ❗
                          Draw your πŸ˜‰
From there any time you click and draw it, it will have 13 segments for the eternity! πŸ€“
Even you draw some or fastuous volumes between them! β˜€

                        Frenchy Pilou
Is beautiful that please without concept!

Thanks Pilou. I did get that part figured out a while ago. My problem now is getting the opening in the races.

                              Thanks Jean,

                              1. The gaps happen with the Follow me tool. Not sure how to get that not to happen.

                              2. From what I can tell the edges are on the axis although now that I look at it it is not exactly centered..

3.Not sure what you mean about bringing the geometry into the context of the race.

I'm fairly new to Sketchup so there are a lot of things I don't know how to do yet. I just want to make those races with the opening to make it easier to put the balls in. I did use a Dremal to make the openings which worked OK but I thought it would be better to just incorporate it into the part that I'm printing.

This is getting frustrating. I know this can't be that difficult but every time I try something something else doesn't work. All I want to do is get the hole in here and print up the parts so I can put the balls in easier. Any suggestions?

Have you clicked in sequence on all the scene tabs that are on the top of the model window ?

                                    Just ideas.
