      Hi everybody :

Within the Create Component dialog box, one of the settings is "Replace selection with component". I, sort of, understand what this is about.....something about turning the 'selection' into a component instance. I'm kinda 'fuzzy' on component instances.
Could someone clarify this setting ?

                                                           Thanks,
                                                           garystan

If you make any entity a component the dialog box is asking...
'do you want what you just selected to become a component in the viewport '
        or
'just place the selection as a component in the component library and leave the selection as raw geometry in the viewport '

Usually that box is ticked automatically but be aware that if the geometry you've selected is connected to geometry that is not selected, that box will not be ticked. If you go ahead and make the component, it'll be in the In Model library but not in the model space. Most of the time you;ll select all attached geometry and make a component with the expectation that the selection will be replaced with the component and you don't need to do anything special.
