Drapping Air Photos
-
Hello All,
I have created a terrain file from DWG contours. I would like to be able to drap my air photos over the terrain. How can I complete this? Should I integrate the air photos from the start of the terrain process, or do I drape it after the terrain is created from the DWG CAD file?
Thanks...

Seems after is sufficient like a normal texture projected

No that doesn't work. I have tried that before, but its been unsuccesful. A terrain in SU from Contours is a Group. I have not been able to apply a texture to a group. If you Explode the Group and apply a texture, the texture process will apply the texture to only on of the many faces. This process will not work. Does anyone know of any other means to drap a texture over a terrain created from contours?

Sure it works.

No need to explode the group. Here is an easy way:
-enable "hidden geometry" under "view" menu;
-"open" the group with a double click;
-paint a little face with the texture;
-right click on the painted face-->texture-->projected;
-pick the texture with the eyedropper;
-disable "hidden geometry", pick the paint bucket and paint the whole terrain. -
Thank you Massimo....you were right, it did work

Thanks for the easy step-by-step process.

Well that method was for a generic texture. If you want to project a specific image to fit exactly the terrain, you may need to do a rectangle with the same size of the terrain above the terrain inside the group. Then paint the rectangle with the image imported as texture (adjust it on the rectangle)-->right click-->texture-->projected. Pick the image with the eyedropper and paint the terrain.

Thanks Massimo. I have my area set up as a grid. The contours and the image are a perfect square and are the same size, so your description worked exactly as I was hoping.
Thanks again.

Good.

You could have also simply opened the group for editing and done it.
