Solid inspector
-
Good morning everyone (UTC + 1 = 12:03), I am new to this forum and quite impressed by the exchanges I have seen so far. I am currently trying to find leaks in solid models, and understand that a plugin called "solid inspector" could help. How should I proceed for SU8? Thanks in advance and best regards, Bertrand Waucquez

Click the red Plugins Index button
Search that page for Thomthom
under his list find solid inspector
read install instructions

Hi Bertrand (hi Rich),
Here is the rb file attached at the bottom of this post: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?t=30504
You will need to simply move it into this folder:
C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 8\Plugins\Note the "requirements" in that post: there is an additional plugin library you need to install. Some instructions on how to install zipped plugins can be found here:

Thanks Rich, Gaieus,
I transferred the tt_solid_inspector.rb file to the plugin library in the C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 8\Plugins folder, but got the following error message when opening SU:
Quote
Error Loading File tt_solid_inspector.rb
no such file to load -- TT_Lib2/core.rb
UnquoteIs there another library to be created? If yes, how should it be named? I am also confused by what I have read about zip files since I have not seen them.
For my information, Rich mentioned a "red Plugins Index button" to get installation instructions: where can I find this?
Thanks again and best, Bertrand

Please, read the instructions again.

All right. Then here is TIG's "Solid Solver" (partly based on TT's Solid Inspector) which even tries to fix these "almost-solids"

Then yet another one which tries to fix them:

Thanks you, Thomthom, for the script and the group for answering the inquiry! The native solid tools do not always result in a 'solid' ramaining after the operation and I was having a heck of time figuring out why. Thomthom's script revealed the solid subtract tool was leaving behind a bunch of hidden geometry that should not have been left! (using SketchUp Pro
