      Hey All,

I am trying to add a texture to a simple structure. I have a box that I have divided into three equal vertical parts, each 1 metre high. When I try to texture the middle strip the texture will be pasted to either the top or bottom strip. I have tried texturing from top to bottom, bottom to top, left to right, right to left and all the same issue.

      Any help would be appreciated.
      Thanks,
      Ryan

It would be nice to have the model to see what is going on. Is the box a group or component? Do you have it open for editing before applying the material?

If the faces are inside a group/component and you apply a material to the group/instance all default-material faces will display using that material.
If you edit the group/component you can then paint the material onto individual faces as desired.
OR are you sure that the lines you drew split the face ?
If you have drawn the lines outside of a group the face inside the group will be unaffected by the new lines.
If you have not draw fully across the face otherwise you might have an unfaced line.
To check that the face is indeed split double-click on it, only the face and its edges should highlight - anything more and the face is not split.

          Other tips:
View in Monochrome mode and ensure the face's front are oriented the right way [Select+Reverse in the context-menu if you see the 'blue' backs facing outwards].
Use a Style with Edges set at 1 and Profiles set to 2 - then edges splitting the face will look thin and those not [unfaced] with display thicker; also having End-Points 'on' can help you see the ends of lines better when editing...

            Hi Guys,

I have added a pdf with the steps I have taken and the result. What I did was the following:

            1. Make a rectangle
            2. Pull the rectangle to a height of 3m
            3. Make horizontal lines on one face spaced at 1m each
            4. Import a photo as a texture to the centre face

            Thanks

Couldn't you just post the SKP file? There's a lot that won't show in a PDF.

Thanks, I found the same thing. I was wondering if I was missing something. It seems to be happening to me everytime I model with this process.

Can't say why this is happening, but I find if I delete that lower face and recreate by drawing an edge along the left side, it all seems to work correctly.

I also find that if I follow your steps, I have similar problems, until the above fix. The results can vary with different tries.

I am using a PC, so not perfectly; maybe on yours. What are you using? OS, RAM, Graphics card, SU version?
