Extrude and separate
-
Hi Y'all
Can anyone tell me how to extrude a shape then save as a component but be able to pull the shape up again.
Or to put it another way i want to pull up a shape but separate it into separate components.

I'm not sure I really understand what you're asking but why don't you make the shape a component before you extrude it. Save that shape into a local component library and then drag it out each time you want to make a new extrusion from it by editing it in the model space. This is a common practice for molding profiles so they don't need to be drawn every time they are needed.

If you already have a face shape that's part of something else... select the face and Edit>Copy.
Now edit another component/group [make it if you need to] and Edit>PasteInPlace the face is duplicated inside this other 'container'.
Now you can push pull it in that edit as desired and it's separate from the original geometry.
If you want yo 'remove' the original face from its original context and put it inside a component/group you can select it and make the component/group from it and a 'hole' will be left in the original geometry.
You can also use Edit>Cut + Edit>PasteInPlace on a face [do not select its edges as that might affect other geometry unexpectedly] to 'move' it into a new container, rather than replicate it...
