We need another World War!

I agree, we need a war, a "War on stupidity and ignorance", it's time for 21st century solutions and not mayhem.
We need to address issues like global fresh water resources, diversity farming, global climate change, dependency on fossil fuels, alternative energy sources, etc and not just lip service.

"women in general" Excuse me Solo, but what in the hell color is the sky in your world?
The sky is bright and blue here, gloomy overcast in your world?
Well I am at a loss on how you can see the sky with the board brush you paint everything you don't like. I have yet to see you mention anything positive, your stick is to always demigrate all other choices. No, the color of my sky is "hike you own hike".

I could not agree more. Also our generation might be the last that actually still have a little change to do something. Now humanity can be compared as a global force to a major geological processes.

5.1Γ10^20 J total world annual energy consumption
1.5Γ10^22 J total energy from the Sun that strikes the face of the Earth each day
4.0Γ10^22 J estimated total energy released by the magnitude 9.1-9.3 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake
5.5Γ10^24 J total energy from the Sun that strikes the face of the Earth each year = 10.000 x total world annual energy consumptionHumanity is really tiny tiny global force ...

another world war like I or II (or the roman empire.. british empire etc) ??
i think that's going on right this minute.. only, none of the other world wars have proven successful (i.e.-no one has yet to conquer the world)..
so they're going about it differently this time (and succeeding if you ask me).. at the base, it's the american empire except by doing this, america itself will lose it's significance/greatness/meaning..
[edit] oh.. and i don't mean to say the american govt. is doing this (though many of their resources are being used to accomplish certain tasks).. but it's not like obama, for instance, has a 'Let's conquer the world / acquire new american lands/ etc' in the same way someone like hitler was trying to do..
[edit] @mike.. upon re-reading the original post, i'm pretty much saying the same thing as your third paragraph implies.

There are too many students and not enough teachers, perhaps we need more school shootings. There are too many people on welfare, perhaps we need to encourage more murder among the poor. There are not enough resources, perhaps we need global imperial hegemony to hoard what's left for the elite few and cull the third world herd in the process.

don't forget the war on drugs... 20 years, hundreds of billions of dollars and over 1 million prisoners of war.

Here in Arizona we are loosing the war on the environment. Tomorrow the state legislature is about to vote in a law that would make it illegal to follow any of the UN environmental guidelines. Another vote is being taken on exploiting four areas as radioactive waste recycling plants. The patients have taken over the mad house. I hate to cry "the sky is falling but maybe it is."

I've heard the WWIII argument before. It's usually presented by those that seek to get out from under all the debt incurred by bad government and business practices by simply bombing the heck out if the country that they owe money to. It does nothing to solve the issues that have created the problem in the first place, which can be boiled down to greed.

Perhaps you should watch that video. No point to compare to the Sun. Also there are other geological processes than earth quakes and said quake is in scale "Great" not "Major" and it's energy effect on surface is less what humanity does... Look on erosion and resource depletion. I think our effect is more like erosion and it's scale can be seen without doubt.

"Gentlemen, we now have the capability to build the Prunetron Bomb. It's doesn't actually destroy buildings or kill people, it just knocks the crap of them."

Er, why?
Edit: nevermind. I can guess why.

I wouldn't want the UN involved in my state either.
At least they'll have jobs and newly recycled fuel.

We have a famous persian phrase "muddy water fishing".
simple googling shows that how it is easy to catch fish, even with hands, in a muddy water:
poor fish, cant see anymore, while must breath and there are less oxigen in such muddy water.... so you can easily see their mouths, while they dont see you at all!!!
I think a war , just will make things even worse for fish (us) and bettr situation for fisher!!!!
we need more clearance, tru clearance, more and more , to be able to solve our problems as human being. while we watch TVs, full of shit...even there is no simple bit of truth... our main illusion!!!! -
Guys, when I wrote World War in the main heading I was thinking about a war against our current system of governance and banking. The objective would be to regain people power and bring back true democracy or a better system.
I think the Euro 'experiment' is now proving to be a failure. I think it could probably end up as as inter-state commerce currency and each State will revert to its domestic currency. I have read about such a proposition and it makes a certain amount of sense. It has also been suggested that this is how the Euro should have been introduced in the first place.
The heads of the EU are currently scrambling around chasing their tails in the hope of getting back on track but I very much doubt that will happen. I think there simply is no common ground on which to build an agreement.
I have been trying to read / learn as much as I can about what has caused this problem and think I am grasping an overall picture bit by bit.
What surprises me is that average, well educated people here in the EU have little or no idea about how Governments and Banks actually work. I really think it about time that these subjects be brought into the secondary school syllabus, so when a student reaches 18 they will be able to make an inform decision on what way they vote.
As regards the Party Political system goes, this is tribal to put it mildly. Surely in this day and age it should be possible for a country's citizens to part-take in decision making on an ongoing basis by voting via their mobile / cell phones for example!
This may sound simplistic but I can see no reason why it could not be done. From what I read about Iceland, they appear to have re-invented their political system and its now working in favor of the citizens not the power brokers.
If we have to stay with the political party system at least it would ensure that they STICK to the election manifesto they presented to the electorate. If they felt they needed to change policy due to circumstances they would have to gain approval via a secure approval system from the people that put them into power in the first place.
I for one would have no problem watching / reading about proposals for a couple of hours each month, making a decision and casting my phone vote.
The system at present relies on forces within the governing parties 'standing up for what is right' and voting against the government to bring it down. This happens on occasion but it takes a brave politician to do this and they are a rare breed indeed.
I think we are seeing this in Greece at the moment! Greece was the home of democracy and maybe it will be again!
