    Hi all,

It's been quite some time since I have been on here but I am back and have a question about material creations. I have created a material which is basically a type of perforated steel plate. The material I created works well in SU (I know it needs a little work but for now it does the job) The problem I am encountering is when I bring it into kerkythea the transparent potion renders as solid white. How would I go about keeping the transparent portion in Kerky?

    Thanks

I know its a bit large but this is the mat I am using.

Hi Jeff. It works fine here. In KT the png textures are automatically imported as diffuse+clipmap material. Just check you have the "alpha channel" ticked as the picture below.

You are more than useful Gai. πŸ˜„
No need anyway to add anything. It should be all "automatic". πŸ˜‰

That's weird because I used the map you posted so you should have that option. Have you imported in SU the image as texture or as image?

Could you please upload just the problematic part of your textured model? (SU 7 or below)

Make sure to select the clip map image (step 1) so that it's highlighted in green. Then also select that image thumbnail where I show step 2. The alpha option only appears then.

Hmmm...Really strange, it works just fine here. Have you the latest version of SU2KT exporter?

Hm. Interesting. For me (also?) the material is exported as jpg, not png (therefore, obviously, no alpha channel can be found). I do not know why this is happening.

I could reload the jpg image with the png however. Copy the png to the material folder KT creates when exporting and when opening the material browser in KT, change the jpg material for the png material.

It should be the latest. I just reinstalled it 3 weeks ago. What is the latest version and how do I check my current version?

Copying the png. into the folder seems to be working 😍 . Thanks for the help gents. Once again you guys have proven why this is one of my favorite forums.

Plugins > Kerkythea exporter > About...

                                    Hm. Interesting. Mine says:

                                    SU2KT version 3.1 beta2 27th October 2007 😲
Now I am pretty sure this is not the latest version. πŸ˜†

True however that nowadays, if I need to open native Kerky at all, I first tweak everything in Twilight and export from there (lazy solution for mediocre rendering talents)

All right. Now I updated my SU2KT plugin and it exports the material correctly as png and even the alpha is already added as a clip mask. I really do not know what I have been waiting for. πŸ˜„
