Steel staircase

Excellent modelling (i'm pretty sure he used pipe along path .rb)

Thanks, jo-ke.
Yes, Slimdog, I'm a civil/structural drafter by profession, I've done quite a lot of steel structure drafting over the years.
Thanks, Steve.
Hi Stanley, your question was answered by Pete and Steve. Thanks. 3D is fun with SU.
Paul, the structure is rather straight forward, it can be done in SU without any plugin, as pointed out by gilles. Thanks.
Mojtaba, thanks.
Hi chedda, thanks. No "pipe along path", only "follow me".

Donald,
Really good model, thanks for showing it.
..........
Like you, I get involved with modelling steelwork structures.A couple of plug-ins you may want to try that are VERY useful for such work:
Profile Builder

Invaluable - well worth the Β£ / $
..............
StairCaseBuilder
A DC I've written to help model staircases - so you don't have to do everything by hand

Hope this helpsHoward L'

Thanks, Howard, will check 'em out.

Great staircase! Are all connections welded?
-
Thanks, Alexander.
I'm not too sure about the actual construction sequence as this is not one of my project, but in normal practice, connector plates will be welded to main members in factory and connections on site are preferably bolts and nuts, ie. base plated welded to stanchion in factory and the whole thing bolted to stump on site; and connector plates welded to stanchions in factory so the landing beams could be bolted to stanchion on site.

That was going to be my question.
I see the handrails appear to be welded to the diamond plate and also there's a solid connection between the building and the staircase by the handrails.
I would also suggest kick plates under the handrails on at least the third level, if not the second.

I wasn't being rude, if I was looking at your portfolio, unless you wanted to do the external steel detailing in my office I would wonder what your intention was.

Thanks for your reminder, Stanley, next time I'll make sure I declare my "intention" prior to posting any image here, I'm sure this is stated in the forum policy somewhere.

Free Time...What is that?
LOL. Lucky me, being a freelancer I still manage to squeeze some free time between projects to learn something new.

Hmm... I'm sorry but I didn't get what you mean by "technical issue"? Didn't I mentioned it in my post that this is something I modeled and rendered when I was free?
It's not illegal to model and render existing structures/buildings here in Malaysia. Also, this is not a project of mine so I didn't really disclose any sensitive data, if there's any, about the design in the model, which I shared in 3D Warehouse. Lastly, I believe no contractor will build a structural steel staircase solely based on a 3D model without fully annotated and authority approved construction drawings.

Great render,
So you modelled it?
Why duntio download from 3D Warehouse -

I know where you're coming from. It has been "suggested" to me as well to not share work under construction and/or still under development. I understand the professional and commercial mindset, especially when the project is for a client or the work is sensitive to IP in some way. But for the most part, all the hand-wringing to not share models, especially screenshots or renders is a bit ridiculous.

Free time?.
Hi David. Uhhh... did I say something wrong? "Free time" = "leisure", no? Please excuse me if I didn't get it right as English is not my first language, but what I really mean is "I modeled it when I was free."
-
no...your English is fine, but the term 'FREE TIME' is so foreign to me anymore. i cant remember the last time I had free time to model anything :
sorry if my little joke didnt translate very well
