That is beautiful. The light it gives off is very warm.

I'm curious to hear what you guys think about it!
it sux
Jus' kiddin'~ it's totally awesome and I'm jealous. I wouldn't have clue One as to even start to do something like that.
I would be curious however to hear how the resin holds up to the heat of the lamp after a few weeks or so.
-
I like it very much. Well done Marcus.
-
wow it's awesome! i want one

That's a really lovely piece, elegantly simple.
Interestingly just before reading your post I was reading an article about 3D Printing, Saviour or Piracy.
Looks like another can of worms being opened up.

This is absolutely super, very inspiring. Love it.

Thanks Eric, I was surprised at the light quality as well considering the lamp is pure white.
David, I have a 40 Watt incandescent in there now and its too hot, I think the plastic will melt if I leave it on for any length of time. I am looking for an LED bulb of similar output that will fit in its place, but so far the ones I have found are much larger diameter and don't fit.
Thanks, Massimo! Your gallery models always inspire me to do better.
mojtabata2001, I'm working on sourcing the components to offer them for sale at a reasonable price.
Thanks, Ben. Its definitely a hot topic recently, designers make movie props for sale prompting cease-and-desist orders from Hollywood...the technology is so powerful I hope its not outlawed to death.
Thanks, Lee...if I can do it, anyone can!

very nice

I love it, would like to see more posts like this, fantastic product
-
Thanks Alvis and Damien
-
I like that, specially the top view.
-
Very cool
-
that is so beautiful.
-
That's one beautiful little lamp Could it be made in a larger size? Is it coated with something, because I'll bet it's a real bear to keep clean with all those nooks and crannies.
-
small price to pay for art. . . .
-
Nice work Marcus, very cool piece of kit, I reckon you could sell those with an led light. I'd have one if the price was right.
-
I added you to the "Thread for Fine Design" Marcus.
This is a real beauty, and must have been really exciting to open the box when it arrived.
A Fine accomplishment. You should be very proud.
Cheers -
Thank you all for the encouragement, it makes me want to pursue this further!
notareal, I totally agree, top view really 'makes' the design. I like the interior Sketchup view as well.
Hellnbak, yes it can be made larger, in fact the next one will be 8" diameter vs. the 6" diameter shown. It is coated with a clear finish and can be cleaned with soap and water - in fact one company that sells 3D printed objects recommends using a dishwasher!
Mike, I'll post back here when its finalized, I'm still working on the details and pricing.
Wow Dale, that's a compliment I'm not sure I deserve. I am happy so far, but its not done yet! Thank you.
-
Marcus, that's just breathtaking. Lovely.
Can you show us a section cut of the model? I'm curios how it's held up inside.
How in the world did you model this? -
Could we see a few sections through the model? It would be nice to see how the shade fits with the lamp stand.
A very nice piece of work.
Kind regards,
Bob
