    hi all πŸ˜„
in fact i love sketchucation too much helped me a lot
    people here is amazing
my question maybe strange but i just have problem with the new version of vray because of the big time of processing scene.
so i revert back to vray for sketchup 6 even 1.05.29 have long processing time too so the first version to me is the perfect one and i didn't find any changes between the old one and the new one except ies light so my question is how i could fake ies in this version because i see people fake ies in old version but i don't know how i could do that

I believe the fake ies is only a post-processing trick.

No - there was/is? a thread on the old ASGVis forums about fake IES. Basically it was an omni light behind a face with a alpha map representing the IES light distribution.

        Here we go: http://www.chaosgroup.com/forums/vbulletin/showthread.php?59871-IES-Lights-How-to-fake-in-VfSU-1-5

I had used that method in these illustrations: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=22423#p188781

Dude, upgrade. There are a lot of improvements with the new version. Especially faster parsing times and IES support.

If you are in the middle of a project I would not recommend upgrading. Because there are some adjustments required to upgrade a model from older VfSU to newer.

Plus, the DR is unstable in the latest.

(I do however use the latest version now. Just wanted to express some caution.)

glad you're finding sketchucation useful. I'm assuming you've read some other posts about vray - if so you may find the advice has consistently been to upgrade your vfsu to the latest version. There have been many improvements to the program, especially as regards to handling processing of the model.

Edit: see thomthom's info about fake ies below.
