Are you tired?

Very disappointed to see that the Yes I vote for as only 11 votes at this time, I think it's the better Yes the other is just a little yes.

I think it's Schrödinger's yes.

I agree, that bastard touches nerves with his anti-God rhetoric.
I see, agreed except this "bastard". A "man of faith" is more precise in your case.
BTW, It's the first time you reply on my comments since an argument on rock modeling if I recall it correctly.

This completely fair and balanced vote was bought to you by PM Putin's very best electoral experts...
-
This is fun.
My point was not to ban them or condemn them, just put the topic on the shelf for a while rather than have multiple topics going in the same direction.
So, those solar flares created some light show in Norway huah?

Or how about that Tim Thomas?

I would suspect that the majority of the Sketchucation members attended the forum to learn about 3D technologies. I have chosen the SketchUcation forum to exchange ideas and experiences about SketchUp and related topics.
If souls and spirits of the Sketchucation members are limited by “3D technologies”, the ‘picture’ becomes desolate...!

Do you mean we should add a Cornel Bar subforum, too, that people can sign up like for the foreign language forums?
On a forum that I moderate, we did ended up with this solution back in the days of Bush (W) after his first term...it got pretty heated and there were so many flame wars that it became a huge issue with a large portion getting upset because of the "censorship" and "freedom of speach" was being infringed upon...we created a more mature (or immature) forum called Hot Topics that housed all the topics that became flame wars. It was by request only...and those that entered agreed that they would not get offended and whine to the moderators if they red something that didn't agree with their beliefs. It has been so successful that no one posts there or on the main site any political or religious items anymore.
-
Meh!
Probably a good thing just to quit religious topics as it seems that some religious folk cannot debate their faith and end up whining to administration in pm's when they get offended.
I pulled most of my comments from that long debate that got nowhere except a zillion bible quotes posted by Cornel, I also deleted my poll as it apparently also offended some folk that might have noticed the majority votes was not in their favor.

I'm usually pretty easy going about things, but in this case, I've had enough and time to say my peace. I could care less if this post gets me banned. If this is the kind of respect that exists around here, FROM A MODERATOR, no less, then I'll be leaving anyway.
Actually, you, personally, do offend me Solo. You're constant need to vilify and belittle believers is boorish and unnecessary. If there is anyone in this forum who has a hard time with religion or faith as a topic, it's you. Your rhetoric is tiresome, and I consider you just another petty whiner who thinks that their point of view is the only one that counts. Your "statement" about Darwinism in your avatar is immature, offensive and uncalled for. It is only there evidently to continue to offend others who don't share your point of view ...
BTW, the problem with offending people in a forum is that you never know who might be looking to hire you.
-
It would be a stupid move to ban anyone just because he writes down his opinion.
Although there may be exceptions - but I guess you are not planning to post racist jokes here, are you?

If my religious beliefs is a factor in hiring me then don't,I care less. I'd rather be hired for my skills and abilities to sell your product with images and animations rather than if I belong to your clan or not.

So as a moderator I should not have an opinion? c'mon really, time to grow a chin.

More intolerance from your ilk?

We do not ban for having an opinion, just do not post porn, racist comments or offer pirated goods.

No, just me personally. As for my "ilk", well, if it includes people that believe a person shouldn't abuse their position to further their own agenda, then that's fine.

Well then, good luck. There's more to doing business than just "skills and abilities", "clans" not withstanding.
Cheers.

Not planning on it ... -
As far as I can see it, no one is 'abusing their position' here.
Solo [and others] when acting just like any other member of the forums, may express any truly held belief.
The fact that someone is a moderator is irrelevant - provided that they nave not used any of his 'super-powers' inappropriately in censoring posts etc...
In the "corner-bar" everyone is equal and entitled to their opinions.
If an opinion is within certain predetermined bounds of decency etc, and it does not involve racism, incitement, bigotry and so on, then it MUST stand: otherwise there is no 'freedom of speech'.
If someone is a religious zealot or a rampant atheist is irrelevant in this matter.
Their opinion is expressed and others make their own opinions of it.
That this position is clearly 'barking mad' to me is in fact irrelevant; I might try to point out 'errors in logic', or 'common-sense' and so on... but at the end, if the contrary opinion holds sway then I must either agree, or retreat and have no further discussion, or if I find the situation intolerable resign from the forums completely.
What kind of world do we live in if someone cannot express an opinion [no matter how stupid] and we seek to censor/censure him ? It is by challenging contrary opinions that we develop, and not by allowing them to flourish unabated... Whatever our opinions might be... -
Fair enough and a lesson for me to just steer clear of the Corner Bar evidently ...
Cheers.

Ken, if I said the sky was blue you would disagree with me...
-
Solo
Maybe and maybe not. Depending on the type of day. The sky is blue is not subjective. So determining if the sky is blue can be define by facts, the actual frequency of the light.
However, I will tell you one thing I don't do, is posts endless posts, claiming that someone beliefs are absurd, ridiculous, meaninglessness, hokum or etc. Please feel free to add more insults.
I leave everyone to their beliefs. Generally I don't find your post worthy of a reply and I am regretting the short reply that I already made.

I came to that site for different reasons, but I found it to have a lot of interesting articles about human behavioral psychology, and indeed- also what is happening in public forums. One interesting article was about the "Monkey dance". Basically when someone attacks some of your core beliefs(like politics, religion), then our "monkey brain" that controls emotions kicks in and the Neo-cortex part of our brain that controls rational thought, speaking and other higher brain functions is not in charge of our actions. So it really is natural that a discussion like this would evolve to ad hominem attacks. Some just cant differentiate between things that happen in their perceptive reality and what happens in actuality, so an attack on ones beliefs is interpreted as an attack on themselves.
If we can keep our angry monkey at bay, then there is some hope for some civil and interesting discussions in the corner bar
