Latest project (110skatepark) - WIP
-
this is a long enough project for a little journal (5weeks).. i'm a week into it so far..
i'm doing the bowl first and i fired sketchup from that duty.. rhino is king as far as this stuff is concerned.. the street course will be mostly sketchup however so the thread won't be entirely off topic of SU.. (though i may present the sketchup stuff a little differently.. i'll talk with rich about it )
[meanwhile, i'll just keep talking about god on the forums because all my software related energies are being used up right now.. ]

Sweet forms as always
Have you get a Moi version or just a Rhino one ? -
great job you got!
It would be very instructive to see some close-up of how you wrap the plywood in curves. -
You like a bit of Tilt Shift?
-
frenchy-- no moi yet.. did Michael release the osx 2.5 version yet?
(I haven't checked on it for a couple of weeks.. not much time right now but I'm looking forward to it)@gilles.. I'll post some pics showing the final surface and their patterns.. going to Florida tmmr for a little job so this one is on hold for a week.
@rich.. those pics are from my instagram. hence the weirdness

If I ever become rich, I'm getting me one of those. And some really good health insurance.

Looks great. Cant wait to see the final project done.
Do you just do the modeling or do you hammer nails and do project management?
I modeled a small pump track for a costumer last year was way smaller but same ideas.
Somebody please kill instagram.
Cheers

i do it all.. first and foremost though, i consider myself a carpenter..
the computer is just another tool and the drawings are a means to an end.. (and my models aren't necessarily for others to read because i don't draw all the details or things that don't need worked out.. i generally just draw the key surfaces and/or templates etc then make cutlists from there.. that said, the computer does make the job a lot less stressful.. i can generate most of my numbers at night without all the saws/drills running in the background then just divvy up the cuts the next day.. plus, it gives me more confidence to build more complex structures because the computers can keep track off all the numbers etc so i don't have to focus so much on each little aspect..)
but i also consult, sell, conceptualize, design, generate working drawings when necessary, estimate/order materials, lead the crew (of 8-10), project manage, and probably a few more things i'm forgetting at the moment
re: instagram.. dunno.. it's way better than Facebook (at least for me)
