What's your motivation to learn C4D ? I'm asking to know what one could gain by learning it. There can be more people interested in working with it, but for them is just "another 3d app".
        Thank you.

There are so many reasons, from Hyper nurbs to UV painting to animation rigging.

          More tools, more oportunities.

Digital Tutors has quite a few freebies available:

This isn't free (cheap, though), but it should be useful:

            Freebie from the same place:

I've been eying C4D (and Vray) for some time as well.

                  Pete,

Would you ever try Blender? It's quite powerful and when you start to get to grips with it you reap the benefits. Plus the tutorials are abundant and free.

Download the free D'oh Book for SketchUp πŸ“–

Blender is very powerful, but so intimidating, the problem is getting to grips with it, I have tried a few times but just fizzled out.

MOI is good but not a mapping solution.

Not really, but i am with it from the begining for all the French parts! πŸ˜„
UI, Manual, Forum, Wiki, my own site and own tutorial videos etc... a cool mode to fill my old days and nights! β˜€

About the mapping, there is no problem: make it in C4D
All is yet well oriented for a renderer πŸ˜„
And better than Blender for example, this last one don't know use all informations of orientation's vertices/faces !

As all plugin authors can use the same SDK, it's more a matter of time when further integration will happen... naturally C4D does benefit greatly as it can handle high polygon models. SU may still need a external renderer, because of it's memory limitations. But certainly a deeper integration is now possible.
