[Plugin] FredoTools::ReportLabelArea - v3.2a - 05 Feb 20
-
ReportLabelArea is a standalone script which provides several services about Areas:
- Reporting: Compute and display the area of the selection or the whole model, by materials, by components and groups, and by layers. Display is done in a Web dialog box, with possibility to print and Export in CSV format.
- Browsing: Indicate the Area of faces, components and groups by mouse-over in the model
- Labelling: Create and Edit text labels with Areas
For all functions, there is a choice of Area formatting (unit and decimal), regardless of the default unit of the model.
This follows a request by vanderlm.
ReportLabelArea is now installed as part of FredoTools.
See the main post for FredoTools for Installation
No user manual (see section Quick Start and Videos below)
- Language: English, French
- Menus: by default, it is installed in Tools > FredoTools with 2 submenus: Report on Areas and Label with Areas. It also appears in the Contextual menu when there is at least one face in the current selection
- Icon toolbar: Fredo6 Tools. By default, the 2 icons are not shown
- The plugin is free, for private and commercial usage.

Would it be difficult to add "by layer"?Do you mean
- compute total area by layer?
- For each layer, gives the details by Material and by container?
Fredo

I mean compute total area by layer.
I explain: I am doing a big project. I put each floor's top face on adifferent layer corresponding to the affectation of the floor (for exemple: exhibition, administration, library etc...). Each time I want to check the total area of library's floor for exemple, I select one face, right click, and go into context menu and choose "by layer" to have the sum of all areas of library's floors top faces. I do that 40 times a day.
I think that if we can make a report of all areas of these faces we can produce an automated area table for elements of program.
Of course it could be done with materials, but we often want to give the same material to all the floors. The differenciation comes with layers.
Switching to "color by layer" mode gives a more analytical vision.
"color by layer mode" = analytical, programmatic
"textured mode" = realistic, rendering.Sorry for my frenglish.

Hmm, I just wrote a very simple version of this for myself today. I should have looked here first. oops! Thanks for the script Fredo,

What do you mean?
Fredo
I mean you are providing a set of tools and I have to install them all at one time. But I have already installed some of them and made my own icons for them.
Actually I am using sutool of Wikii as a manager of all my plugins. And this set of combined tools doesn't support that.
I konw I can also control display of the icons through your LibFredo6, but it would still be wonderful if you could continue providing these tools als seperate plugins at the same time.

I understand.
I am not a user of Wikii's SUTool. Can you tell me how you bind the icon / command to the Plugin.I can try to offer an interface which is compliant so that you keep seeing the plugins as standalone.
Fredo
PS: I regrouped the plugins to minimize the footprint in SU, (i.e. have a single menu item). I also provides a Quick Launcher.

A query. You can add a tool to measure length of vectors, curves, polylines etc ...? -
Fredo. Great Tool.
One question. The sorting is by either Material or by Layer.
Any chance to add By Layer then by Material?
Something like this?Layer1
Material 1
Material 2
Material 3
Layer2
Material 1
Material 2
Material 3Regards.
