I'd say the propellers tore the surrounding structure away while spinning after being fractured from impact. The engine looks fairly intact.

I figured these rocket scientists were performing low altitude turns about a point (a cute girl at the amusement park) and experienced an accelerated stall that flipped them out of the turn and into the Ferris wheel.
Damned accelerated stalls! That top wing gets a little too much AoA and wham!
