Proxy renders

a friend of mine uses 3d max and uses proxy. just like we have components in sketchup, there's a facility for proxy that is to say vray doesnt have to process all the trees one by one. if it knows one component is a tree it automatically detects others thereby reducing the rendring time. how can i do that in vray 4 su ? i'm using 1.49.01

Proxy is something that we hope will be in the next release. For now, we wait. VVray for MAX is way ahead of the curve with things like fur and proxies. We just have to be patient for now or drop 5k on MAX w/ Vray.

At the moment they focus development on V-Ray for Rhino - where they have added Proxy. Once they are done with that development with V-Ray for SketchUp will resume and they hope to get the two products developed in sync.
They do indicate that they will add proxies to VfSU.

Yes, I have heard the same. I also heard that RT will be there too! Cant wait.
