Hello : )

Hey, I first started using sketchup 2 years ago when I was sixteen, unfortunatly with college work and other commitments (xbox and beer) I have not really used it in a while, however I bought a nice new laptop last week and this is what I made in about 2 days on and off.
So I plan on making some more models as I forgot how fun it can be. Atm I am only using the Large toolset with a kerkythea plugin, I was wondering if anyone could recomend some decent plugins for a novice. Thanks : )

Hi,
Welcome to SCF.
Nice model. As for plugins, just click the big red 'Plugin Index' button at the top of this page. You'll see hundreds to chose from. But some 'must haves' are by Fredo6, TIG, Thomthom..... I suppose it's best look. There's also a visual index in the plugins forum that's worth checking out.

And while beer is okay, I would change xbox for girls however.

Wow, just seen the huge list of plugins avalible and I think I went a bit mad lol, I can hardly see my models because the amount of tools I have downloaded. I really wonder why some of these plugins are not built in, if I knew they could be so helpful I would of downloaded them ages ago, they will easily cut my modeling time in half. Big thanks to everyone who makes these things : )

Hi folks.
Get rid of the Large Tool Set and show all of the individual Tool palettes, with the exception of the Dimension window that should, IMHO, stay to the bottom of the status bar. This will give you access to all of SU's tools.
Explore right click features for all and also all the CTRl and ALT keys variations and you will discover that you may reduce your need for plugins.
I am not against plugins, on the contrary, but I think it is best to learn all of the native tools before moving to plugins.
Just ideas.

Thanks for the advise, I would say I am fairly familiar with the standard skup tools and I have now cleaned up my toolbars I did what you said and ditched the large tool set and removed a few plugins from the toolbar. Im mainly using the rounding edges and loft plugins and i'm finding it so much better to work with. I have just started work on another rifle and already the extra tools are greatly helping especialy the round edges tool, I will post up some pics in the WIP section but I have only made the reciever so far.

Wow. I didnβt know about the plugins which were available here (am a newbie too, by the way!!) and I was really thrilled by the number I saw there!! As advised, I got rid of the Large Tool Set and got the access to all of SUβs tools and I must say that it is really cool!!
