      Hello
I try to draw a threaded bolt. I have the plug-in clf_shape_bender.rb and progressbar.rb installed. Simultaneously with the film on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKrWDNDd62c I draw the bolt. When I use clf_shape_bender I get a wireframe drawn on the spiral. Then I press enter. I Get three spirals on the corners of the triangle. Only a small part has three outside surfaces. Can someone help me with any tips.

      Kind regards
      Gerard

Without more detail I suspect you might be suffering from the 'small-faces-issue'.
Sketchup/OpenGL can't manage to make very small facets [<~1mm].
If you scale up what you are making [inside a group] x10 or x100 you might find the faces form.
Afterwards you can scale back down x0.1 or x0.01 as small faces can exist, it's just making them that fails...

Note, I use a lot of bolts in my design. However I do not draw the threads as this is just a lot of graphic weight for nothing.

Note, Bolt Builder V3, by Howard Leslie is a great tool for making bolts.

              re: that video.

be wary of that helix drawing technique shown at the beginning.. the half-circle_move_one_end_up then copy/rotating deal isn't actually drawing a helix..
while it might look ok at a glance, don't rely on doing that if accuracy is ever of importance.
