    hello,

if you're reading this, thank you for not closing the case with a 'omg n00b just utfg' note, since by the Subject the topic may appear to be very trivial 😄

however, i would like to ask, whether there is a tool for extracting all textures (bitmaps) used in scene into one folder.

    why do i need this?

well, we all know that VRay (for SketchUp), for successful execution of a network rendering process, needs a clear and valid path to the textures. the first options are either to use a common network location for textures/materials, or to use the same file structure on both master and slave computer. nevertheless, i noticed today that VRay on the slave machine looks also into its Cached Textures folder, when performing a network render! (in my case the folder is at C:\Users\Me\AppData\Local\Temp\VfSTextureCache ). this means, that when the original file path is not valid, the texture is used if it resides in the cache folder.

now, by the command line output of the DRSpawner i can identify the missing textures and copy them straight into the slave's Cache folder, and - voila - no errors, and the textures show in the image.

now back to my question - is there a way in sketchup (or VRay) to extract all textures (image files) used in scene into one location? and if this would be possible, would it be really that hard to implement automatic texture transfer?

i am not a programmer, but it seems pretty easy to me - and it works.

thanks for any answers or pointers,
    ~E

    I'm using SketchUp 2017, V-Ray 3.4

you have two ways of doing whato you ask: the first would be to extract to 3ds and ask Sketchup to write texture information. In this way all textures are exported to a destination folder.

The second is a plugin you find here:

      Take care

hello broomstick and thanks for the answer. however, the export option does not help, since it creates different filenames for the textures (and hence would represent too too much work to get it working with the VRay). the plugin... does nothing for me. and also, it seems, that it can only export textures from a selected object. how about multiple use of textures in VRay materials?

Doesnt the DR Spawner have the option of sharing the textures to a networked location? Is this not working in the current build?
