Make Group/Component fail?
-
Hey guys,
I have just started working on a new project, but every time I create part of it as a group or component, nothing happens. The model is included. I opened a new file and tried to make a group, a minute later I tried a component, and both worked. Thanks a bunch. EDIT: Model has been removed.

Look in the Components Dialog Box
Windows > Components
Groups works for me?

If you look in the Components browser you'll see there are several components made from part of the geometry you've drawn. You say you are trying to make a component of part of what you've drawn. Because there is unselected bits connected to the selection, you must manually select Replace With component or the geometry is not replaced. The component gets made but not inserted into the model.
It would probably be easier in most cases to only draw that geometry you want included in the component before moving on to other geometry. Then you won't have to worry about remembering to tick the box.

Ahhh....okay, thanks guys. Yep it's working now.

Considering how prolific you are as a SketchUp Modeler, I'm surprised you hadn't already learned this. Glad you got it straightened out though.

Well, thanks for the compliment, but I haven't been modeling in Sketchup to long, just about two years. Are you on the 3D warehouse?

I have a few things there but I don't do models to give away so I rarely upload anything there.

Ahhh........I see. I haven't found anyone willing to pay for my models yet, so I just give them away ( I tried to sell one once but was ripped off). Anyway, thanks for the help.
