I constructed a building starting with one corner on the axis, so its way off-center now. How do I center it?

You can select the entire model and move it, or using the axes tool, select the location you wist to relocate the axes to.

Make sure you are in the Model context and not editing a group or component.
You will have a point in the center of the model, that you want to be at the ORIGIN.
If it is a vertex in the model remember this as the 'marker', otherwise add a temporary line as a 'marker' so its end will eventually be placed at the ORIGIN.
Tools > Axes to switch on the axes if they are not already 'on'.
Right-click over an axis line and 'reset' if the option is available [this ensures we are using the proper model-axes and not some custom-axes]
Layer Browser > switch all layers to 'visible'.
        View > Hidden Geometry 'on'.
This is so we will Move everything.
        Edit > Select All.
        Activate the Move Tool.
Orbit until you can select the 'marker' point you chose or added earlier.
Move everything and snap the selected 'marker' to the axes crossing point [0,0,0] at the ORIGIN.
        De-select all.
Erase the temporary 'marker' if its no longer needed.

sometimes (for me - usually) a corner is the best origin point - why do you want it to be in the centre?

I generally set up my model so the lower front left corner is at the origin. Then I work back and to the right. The front of the model ends up running along the positive (solid) red axis and the model extends back in the direction of the solid green and up in the direction of the solid blue. I've never found a need to center the model on the origin.

Use the boundingbox plugin, and add an X on the bottom of the box. Group everything and then reposition the center point of the X on the origin (it's a clickable point).
