Components Selection
-
OK, haven't been on my laptop for some time. I notice if I open the component selection drop down menu, I get one change to change the directory. After that, I need to shut Sketchup down and start over. This machine is runnging XP.
Anyone else having this problem?
Thank you in advance

Ken,
Are you talking about the list of component libraries drop down? I haven't seen that on either of the machines I use that have XP. Does it happen with Materials or Styles, too?

No, just the component libraries. I haven't used this laptop much since the V8 upgrade.

Very strange. What happens if you click on the flyout arrow and choose Open or Create a Local Collection Can you do that more than once and select various library folders?

In v8 Preferences > Files where is it looking for the Components folder v7 or v8 ?

TIG
Well, I'll be darn, all files were set to D:MyDocument. Now, I don't know how that happen. However, setting the files to the right locations in the
drive did not correct the problem.Late today when I get back to the hotel, I will re-install Sketchup.
Dave, using the flyout doesn't correct the problem. I think TIG hit upon the problem, I just need time to to correct all the file options.
Thank you

Yeah. That thought also crossed my mind and I was going to ask the question but TIG beat me to it. Glad you got it sorted.

This may not apply here, but did you at any point use a usb drive to transport files to/from that laptop?

Why yes I did. When I am at the house I update my plugins on my desktop which I use at the house. Whenever I take the laptop, I move the updated plugins to my laptop by a USB drive. Could this be the problem?

I can't say for sure. Your issue sounds similar to one I was having while using a pocket usb drive. I was hoping my mention would spark something with someone else.
