Ping Pong Files to and From Laptop to Desktop
-
Hi All,
Is anyone aware of a program that will do the following?
I try to keep my library of "Stuff" on my laptop and desktop the same. But often get some files on the desk top, laptop and some files on the flash drive mixed up. Is there a way to sync the data? I have hundreds of files (Same Folder name on each Computer) broken into other multiple file sets to keep the assortment of tutorials, textures, images etc. organized for quick track down. Until I mess it up and accidently copy to the wrong Computer! It takes days to go thru folder by folder to see all is updated. If windows had a copy (NO to All) option so if there is 100 files in one location and 105 in the other I could just copy all, no to all and I dont have to hit the no button 100 times per folder, even this could reduce time from 3-4 days to 1 day? Any advice appriciated.
Thanks,
Matte -
It would be really cool if desktops became "power docks" for laptops. That is, you just arrive home, "dock" your laptop and instantly get a bigger screen, bigger keyboard, and better performance without having to worry about files and such.

I see you are using XP (as am I.) The Briefcase thingy was made for this, although I never actually used it.

Gentlefolk.. Dropbox - https://www.dropbox.com/
just install on both machines and save the Skp into the Dropbox folder. it then autoSynch's with both machines. you are then effectively working with the same file on both machines. you just treat the Dropbox folder as any other folder on your machine. you can also setup folders to share with others.(if anyone wants to try it and is feeling nice, this is a "I refered you" link http://db.tt/b4ABwTi - you get 250mb per person extra space for free. )

Hi Matte, I have used Allway Sync http://allwaysync.com/ for a few years now and really have never had an issue. The pro version is only 20USD and I feel is well worth the cash!!
All you do is map drives on each system, link them via Allway Sync and when you're ready to go home open Allway Sync, analyze the drives you want which shows you which files are newer on which system then hit synchronize and in a few seconds it's done......
Simple as that!
