Line tool snap to grid? Is that possible?

Hi,
I'm sorry my english is not perfect I hope you will understand my problem.
I need to draw line with lenght 1000 mm very very many times.
I get very tired of typing 1000 in dimension box each time i need to draw the line.
Is there a way to make grid to 1000 mm, in all directions (west, north, south, east, up, down)
Can such grid be activated and so that line tool would snap to it's step? (when i try to draw line)Thanks in advance!

Find my WorkPlane plugin.
You a can define any plane and any grid on it as desired...

making a grid of construction points used to work for me quite ok in a similar case...

Also, if you draw one square for a grid, you can multiply it with a linear array in a couple of clicks.
