How to model a curvy wing tip
-
OK, so I must be missing something really obvious, but I just cannot wrap my head around this.
Iยดve decided to rebuild some of my airplane models, but I am having trouble understanding the right ( or the most convenient ) way of closing a wingtipit usually ends with a quite smooth & round cover, as shown in the image
Or should I just stick to square wings? -
You can either use EEbyR or Curviloft. Attached is an example to run either plugin on...
I didn't spend much time with the Trailing Edge as you asked on how to create a smooth end. I could be misunderstanding the question too?

Darn it, I should have stuck to balsa wood - I totally forgot about these plugins
I also assume that, depending on the airfoil shape, you can model the upper and the lower part separately, and then "glue" them together?
Thanks for you replies, guys! Tutorials I have found usually involve some kind of mesh smoothing, but I donยดt think that SDS would be a better solution.
Thanks again! -
No problem. To improve the mesh you can increase the number of segments in the polylines. Curviloft does allow you to play with the mesh somewhat so that's a good choice.
