Sometimes when I copy an object and paste it to second SU program, the pasted object looks fine, but the original that I copied it from takes on a strange diamond pattern as shown. Am I doing something wrong, any way to avoid this? It's kinda hard to see so I've attached before and after photos (the seats are what I copied)

The pattern looks like what should be hidden geometry. Does it show when you change to Monochrome?

Yes, it also shows up in monochrome. Nothing I do gets rid of it, and it's really worrying me.

Seems like if it was going to screw up something it would be the copy, not the original.

Just tried something - it seems if I deselect the objects after I copy them, before I paste them, it doesn't happen. Man this is one quirky program. Guess that just adds to it's appeal. Maybe, sorta. Kinda. 🤣

You wouldn't want to send me a copy of the seats so I could see what happens?

Sure. They're not very good, I'm just learning. Hope I attached it ok.

Odd. I didn't have any problem copying the seats from your original file to a new one.

Maybe you weren't holding your tongue right. 😄

Actually I thought that might happen, thought maybe it would be different if they were by themselves instead of part of the entire model. Oh well, I know now to watch out for it, and hopefully deselecting the objects before I paste them will continue to work around the glitch. Thanks for your help.

When you paste the model into the new model - does the SU window flicker eventually after it has been processing for a while?

I've noticed that occasionally, when SU is doing some processing that locks up the UI, it will flicker when it becomes responsive again and it will have run Soften Edges on the selected geometry. You can see this is you look at the Edit menu, there will be an "Undo Soften Edges" entry.

It's a very annoying behaviour. I've also seen this with selected geometry when I minimize and restore the SU window.

I see that flicker all the time on my little machine at work. It's barely qualified to be considered a computer though. At home I just see the menu line go white. I didn't notice it on this file but then I didn't have the rest of the car either.
