you can right click on the material then Texture->Position..
use the green pin for rotating.. (and play with the other pins to see what else you can do )edit- after you position it, you can then right click then 'make unique texture'.. the material will then be saved with the orientation you've given it and will be available in 'colors in model' of the material palette (or whatever it's called on windows).. that will make it easy to apply a hundred more times

When you are in the texture positioning context, you can right lick again and "Rotate > 90 degs".
But instead of making the texture unique (which will also crop the image on the boundaries of the face), use the Paint tool with the Alt modification key to "sample" the already positioned (rotated) material and paint other faces with the texture this way.

I was wondering how to do this exact thing as well. I'm having trouble following this somewhat. When you say right click the material I asume you meant in the material dialog box. When I right click, all I get is
delete
save as
export texture image
edit texture imageI can go to edit and there I can rotate 90, close it out and then have the rotated material at the top of the box. It works but it's not what I expected to see. I don't get anything about texture/position. What am I missing? I'm using7.1 pro.

no, not there.
apply the material to a surface then right click that.or maybe i should call it context click instead of right click.. certain things only show up in the context menu or rightclick depending on what you're actually clicking.. so, if you context click a material in the drawing then the texture menus appear..
another example would be if you right click on a line then 'divide' will show up in the context menu.. if you right click on a face then that option isn't there. -
Yes, the context menu is - well - "context sensitive" so there are items for different things. When right clicking on a face or edge for instance, you will not get the "explode" item only with entities that can be exploded (arcs, circles, polygons, images, components, groups...) etc. It's worth exploring these different menus (and we have not even talked about plugins appearing there, too).

Yes, that's what I did at first and just got the component context box.. Tried it again and all it wants to do is the same as if I used the selection tool and right click. Is there something wrong with my version, or maybe a setting somewhere is off ? -
If you have applied a textured material to a group or component-instance you can't change its texture-mapping.
If you apply a textured material to a face [which could be within a group or component-definition] you canchange its texture-mapping.
Select the face right-click > context-menu > Texture [I have a shortcut Alt+T] > various options to position, rotate etc.
If you are making things from regular section lumber then you probably only need to rotate the textures 90 degrees ?.
Once you have a few textured faces the way you want them you don't need to continue editing the textures this way, you can now use the Material Browser's eyedropper [Alt=toggle whilst painting] - then sample a face with the material oriented as you want and paint that onto other faces that need it; then when you come to faces with a different orientation sample a face that suits and paint them with that - this is a quick way to paint mapped materials onto timber sections, sloping-roof tiled areas etc -
