Good point Adam
Render Engine - Simlab Composer
Render Time - 1hr
Technique/Approach - Basic Studio with Titanium texture. Studio HDR and a directional light. Glass was water ior value with plastic applied to interior feathers. Tried to create a more NPR feel to it. Not to everyones taste I'd imagine but I liked the result all the same.

This is a welcome break from the normal architectural stuff!
Used Maxwell - render time about 3hrs but image was OK after about 1hr.
Bump to surface a bit overdone.

Here is my render,
Twilight 1.4, easy Hight+ preset, Hdri lighting, 8 minutes at 800/800.
PP with ACDsee pro for contrast and border...
-
Another image, preset easy 10, 40 minutes...
Twilight caustics...
-
bravo guys!!
-
Rendered in Shaderlight, taking 33 minutes at 800 x 600. Setup using a simple room environment with GI and bump.
-
Oh man, these are looking great. I must try again soon.
-
..another raw octane with hdri lighting.
-
Another one. Kerkythea again, unbiased 100 passes, procedural clipmap for the sack. No post pro with the exception of the vignette in Photoshop.
-
V-Ray for SU, studio setup, 21 minutes, HDRI in background, and for illumination.
-
A quick stab at it. Vray/Max - 40 minutes at 1600x1200. Rendered with a studio setup and HDRI. Post process to color adjust, add the DOF and vignette. Also smoothed the geometry.
-
...Hypershot 20 min+some photoshop...hot weather now ...

First crack at this one.
Arion Render - 60 mins
Set up time after sketchup was about 15 minsI've got another one cooking at the moment with a slightly different material for the outside of the marble. I'll upload it when it's done.

Second one using Arion Render. This took about 1h 20m. I'm quite pleased with the results, would like to have put some DOF on it but I'm not sure how to do that with Arion yet.

As usual some great work.
My first contribution:
Thea /TR1(unbiased)/48 min/combination of IBL reflection mapping and physical sky at dusk/thin film
-
A quick try with Thea, not much time to play unfortunately.

Would've liked to do more with this, but we have a new kid so it took 5 days to cobble together enough free time to do this much. Modeled in SU, exported to Blender for duplication of the marbles and using physics to pour them in the jar and tray. Rendered in Luxrender.

Hey congratulations on the new one!

Hi,
Testing of different materials I realize again how much our vision in the real world is influenced by the environment.
The result is that you keep aware of things in the hand and studies the different lighting effects and reflections.

Thanks! Took 9 months to render, but turned out pretty good! Just forgot to deselect "fussy" and lower the "gassy" slider before I pushed Start.
