How to make it real?
-
/edit/ i forgot my VfS version is 1.05.something, cant tell cuz its rendering rite now /edit/
Hello dear Sketchucation forum dudes, its been a while since my last post. From that time ive learn a lot of stuff just by reading around i can now use more of the Vray features and that is all thank to you guys.
Now from time to time ive been playing with settings all around and sometimes i get a photorealistic image, well maybe NOT photorealistic, but it does look far more real than using the settings that came with vray.
Ive read the manual several times, sometimes it work liek a charm other times it just adds render time with no visible improvement.
So anyways my question is from your experience, how do you manage your settings? what kind of GI engines work better and for what? (like exterior or interior etc) what about the bump mappings you use a lot multiplier? (i know i do )
Here is one of my earlier stuff
And this is what i have to do (a project of urban regen wich includes LOTS of stuff like street section, facades, elevations, site plans, constructing details and whatnot )
Final render is going to be big enough to fit on a 36x24 paper with a couple more renders.thx in advance for your time

hoi bro, your render is already good, probably need to be Photoshop work to make it real, you can check teofas Photoshop Tutorial on http://www.asgvis.com - tutorial section
i have a friend that his render is always confusing to me (always looks like photo) gave me a suggestion: if you want your render looks like photo, look at a photo as much as you can, so you've got the feeling what is missed from your rendered image.
goodluck,

Well, your render are already quite good, but if you whan more realistic render, you should add details, both in 3D model and textures (pre or post-processing with good UVmapping or photoshop) : a road is never with uniform grey color, the sky has more cloud, etc...
Bit, as far as you want to take section and façade directly from sketchup, I only know artlantis which is compliant with orthogonal view of sketchup and can render directly a Su model with section activated.

Thx for the feedback and thx for the support.
I know ho to make the scene more real (or kind of) what i want to know are settings. Here let me show with this simple scene.
The first one is the Vray defualt
This one is the Vray Sketchup default.
Next is the High IR setting.
As you can see, the High IR outputs a better result.
So my question stills the same, how can you make a more realistic render? using physical camera? adding more subdivs? montecarlo is better than IR? how many passes of IR? etc etc. -
There is no universal setting. It all depend on the scene.
And it is not just a matter about the global settings, but materials, textures, lights - each of these things, if they aren't done well will affect your output -

I was hoping a CTRL+ALT+MAGIC way of solving things.
Im building a new model, i have already the plans by free hand (real life hand not the SU tool)
Im not happy of doing it with shipping containers (not much of a trend guy), but wth i need a project made with recycled mats.
I dont know if ill be able to finish the model, alongside i have to make some sort of documentation.
And i've seen your work and your a PRO at it (no, really you make a living out of it).
SO what if u help me out on this one thom?
I swear im a fast learner.
Here we have a VERY general view of the "project". I need to add a couple of things in the main volume, before i could start thinkin into interiors.
The basic idea is using the wind to create a low preasure vortex to extract the warm air inside the house, use of solar gains to circulate air, natural light all around and stuff.Thx for your time.

Ok i spent some time playing around and i got this!
Kinda late here and i have a final tomorrow (hyperstatic structures)
So ill be back tomorrow... -
there i fiexd it

The last render you post are quite good...
It is missing some grass at the base of the container, a background, some soft shadow on the ground and a more realistic sky.
But light and shade, and exposure of the structure are quite good in my point of view.
Wait and see the progress of this project of yours.
